Fire Breaks Out At Popular Nassau County Restaurant

Three firefighters suffered injuries as they battled a blaze that broke out at a popular Long Island restaurant.

A fire broke out at Piccola Bussola shortly before 12:45 p.m. on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, fire officials said.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the restaurant and the apartment above the restaurant fully engulfed in flames.

Multiple fire departments responded to extinguish the fire for hours before it was declared extinguished around 8 p.m., officials said.

Four members of the fire department suffered injuries and were treated at the scene, with one being transported to NYU Winthrop Hospital as a precaution. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

All residents living above the restaurant were able to safely evacuate the building.

Following the fire, the owners of Piccola Bussola in Mineola announced the restaurant will be closed until further notice due to the fire, though their locations in Huntington and Glen Cove will continue serving customers.
